2019 Competition Highlights
It was a beautiful day at Sweetwater Creek State Park! Teams from all over the state gathered on March 27th to compete in Georgia's Envirothon annual event. The Georgia Envirothon Council, volunteers and key sponsors worked hard to host this opportunity for our inspiring youth and their dedicated advisors.
Many thanks are extended to the GSWCC, GA Conservation Districts, Chestatee-Chattahoochee RC&D, Smithfield Foods, NRCS, GA Forestry Commission, GA DNR-WRD & staff of Charlie Elliott's Wildlife Center, Soil Science Society of Georgia, and GA State Parks for making this event a success! The GA Envirothon Council could not do it without you!!
Participating schools/teams included Rabun County High School (EnviroCats and EcoCats teams), Greater Atlanta Christian School (Red and Black teams), Vantage Point Education (Teams 1 and 2), Appling County High School, Eagles Home Educators, Etowah High School, Gilmer County High School, Chestatee High School (Eagles Nest team), Lincoln County High School and Rockdale Magnet High School (Black and Blue teams).
The competition focused on 4 major subjects: Soils, Aquatics, Wildlife and Soils plus a fifth current event topic. The 2019 current event focused on meeting food sustainability demands and how advancing technologies may help. The 2019 Station Coordinators were such a valuable component to the event. The GA Envirothon Council appreciates the time and effort they contributed to the execution of this event!!
